I am a freelance theatre & communications professional; a writer, director and performance artist,

recently relocated to New Orleans after working in Texas and San Antonio theaters for over 20 years. 

 

I am interested in opportunities to bring my artistic history and connections together with my administrative

and communications skill sets in flexible working structures that support the aesthetics and financial sustainability

of my own art and the art of others.

Proprietor (2003 – Present)

Sammavaca Communications

  • Freelance writing and editing for business communicators. Clients have included major companies, such as San Antonio’s Zachry Corporation, as well as individual public artists like Oscar Alvarado (Yanaguana Garden at Hemisfair Park) and local artistic organizations.

 

Artistic Associate/Volunteer Coordinator/Grant Writer (2009 – 2012)

Jump-Start Performance Co., SATX

  • Assisted with event coordination and programming, from concept through planning to production support including: budget preparation; oversight of contractual agreements; and practical/logistical support of guest and company artists.

  • Wrote grants and oversaw grant reporting in support of the strategy put in place by the Development Director.  Jump-Start received approximately 70% of the funds requested in new grant proposals I initiated.

  • Responsible for the organization and administration of the volunteer program, including recruitment, training, staffing and supervision of the volunteer pool.

  • Co-producer of the Windows Series(regular, site-specific public performances)

  • Co-facilitator of Sparkslab, a monthly performance jam

As a member of the Stage Management team, I served as Assistant Stage Manager on two of five shows in rotating repertory, and as Stage Manager on a third.
